Voice Heard is an app that enables visually impaired people to navigate indoors with voice instructions. Locating the user’s exact location is done with NFC technology installed on the floor stickers and walking stick.
Voice Heard team was created through the Center’s Competition of Entrepreneurship and Innovation of Athens University of Economics and Business in collaboration with Eleftherios
Venizelos International Airport, which after a selection financed the idea and gave to the team the opportunity to be in the grand final of the contest.
The application of Voice Heard aims to navigate visually people with eye disabilities in space of the Airport for the purpose of their autonomous and independent movement.
In the Departures area of the Airport, on April 3, the team having invited volunteers for testing the application by the Panhellenic Association of the Blind carried out the first test of the
application which was crowned with complete success.
As young people we are obliged to work towards providing equal opportunities to all of them users and visitors of the focal points of our country. This means Culture.
Voice Heard consists of Ioanna Karakoula and Maria Kalogeraki of the IT team, Athanasia Loukidou PhD candidate of the University of Macedonia and the Vassiliki Zissi Museologist – Musician, Digital Culture MSc.
